Description
With two interruptions, the 65th Squadron has been providing realistic air combat training for US Air Force pilots since 1975. Initially equipped with the F-5 Tiger and later with the larger F-15 Eagle, the aircraft, piloted by experienced instructors, are designed to allow realistic air combat exercises. Among other things, the aircraft are visually made to look like potential adversaries: the liveries are often based on the camouflage patterns of other nations. Budget cuts temporarily forced the Air Force to inactivate the squadron in 2014. With the availability of the new F-35, the 65th Aggressor Squadron has been reactivated. Keeping up with tradition, the new 5th generation fighter jets have also received an interesting camouflage scheme, which is certainly not just coincidentally reminiscent of Sukhoi fighter jets.
