Description
1996 ended the chapter of the revolutionary Viscount in passenger service. To decommission the last copies, the Viscount 800 with the registration G-APEY of British World Airways flew the last rounds on April 18, 1996 - 25 years ago - with guests of honor on board, including Sir Edward George, the Viscount's chief designer and Sir Peter Masefield former chairman of British European Airways, which commissioned the first Viscounts in 1953.
