Description
In 1904, Arnold Peter Møller founded the shipping company Maersk, based in Copenhagen, which quickly became an entire group of companies dealing with logistics, retail, shipping, shipbuilding, and, from 1969, aviation. Initially, the focus was on air freight. From the 1970s onwards, the focus increasingly shifted to holiday and passenger traffic. In the 1980s, powerful "Dash-7" turboprops joined the fleet in order to reach remote destinations with short runways, which were often used on routes to the Faroe Islands, sporting Maersk’s unmistakable light blue.
