Description
Herpa is ending its series for the 50th birthday of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 with a new shape. 40 years ago the tanker variant KC-10 “Extender” was handed over to the US Air Force for the first time, and 59 more copies followed by 1987. The three-jet aircraft, which can also be used flexibly as a cargo or ambulance aircraft, can carry up to 160 tons of fuel in the air refueling role, almost twice as much as its predecessor, the KC-135, based on the Boeing 707. The tank boom under the stern is new on this model variant of the DC-10.
