Already having gained experience with the Lockheed Constellation that was first introduced in 1946, the refined and more capable L-1049 Super Constellation entered the fleet from 1953. The 13 L-1049C-versions delivered were not yet equipped with radar or wingtip tanks. To celebrate KLM’s 40th anniversary, several aircraft received a special logo on the sides of the fuselage, as did this “Connie” named “Photon”. Be sure to also check out her sister, PH-LKC “Negaton”, which, as a L-1049G variant equipped with the longer radar nose and wingtip tanks, is also available from Herpa (item no. 571616) as a limited edition.
