Description
Like its illustrious predecessor, the Xsara, the Citroën C4 WRC was equipped with all-wheel drive, a 2-liter turbocharged engine, and a transversely mounted six-speed gearbox. The C4 WRC's distinguishing feature was its length of 4.20 meters, exceeding that of the Xsara. This allowed its width to be increased from 1.77 to 1.80 meters, as stipulated by the regulations. Theoretically, this change improved its cornering stability. As required by the regulations, the driver assistance systems had been reduced and were now identical to those of the 2006 Xsara. Also in line with the cost-cutting measures mandated by the regulations, the C4 WRC's components, such as the engine, gearbox, front and rear axle drives, differential, and shock absorbers, had to be more reliable and designed for a longer lifespan. The test vehicle was used for technical evaluation and setup runs and was unbranded.
