Description
When the new Renault 4 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in late 1961, it marked a small revolution! The brand's designer revealed a new concept: a completely new approach to the automobile. The entire Renault 4 was revolutionary for its segment. It featured a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine with a closed, maintenance-free cooling system, front-wheel drive (a first for Renault passenger cars), a platform chassis to which the body was bolted, four wheels with independent suspension, four fully usable seats, and, most importantly, a hatchback that significantly improved access to the trunk. With its fabric folding roof, the R4 driver could enjoy the wind in his hair on sunny days.
