Description
From the 1960s to its closure in 2011, Aero Union has been a big name in forest fire fighting from the air. In addition to training pilots, she maintained a large fleet of decommissioned military aircraft, including the Lockheed P-2 Neptune, P-3 Orion, B-25 Mitchell, Douglas DC-6 and some ex-Luftwaffe Douglas C-54s. For this purpose, the formerly military aircraft of the DC-4 family received a large tank on the underside of the fuselage with a capacity of 11,000 liters for water or other extinguishing agents.
