This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The 65th anniversary of the departure of the 2nd Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition will be observed in 2022, and to celebrate, Hasegawa brings us this "Super Detail" model kit of the Japan Coast Guard's Antarctic observation ship Soya PL107! This iconic ship is depicted here as she was seen after renovation work was completed on September 30, 1957, and departing on October 21 of the same year. Photo-etched parts are included for the handrails, ladders, rescue nets around the flight deck, and radar after the second refurbishment, as well as a truss and rotors for a Bell 47G, propellers for the DHC-2, and figures for the crew, beavers, dogs, cats and penguins.
