Description
VF-71 “Bedevilers” was originally formed as VBF-20 on 16 April 1945 and later became VF-10A, then VF-92, and finally VF-74 on January 15, 1950. This made this squadron the third unit to receive this designation. VF-74 received its first F-14A in June 1983. F-14B BuNo. 162919 was delivered as AA/101 on August 11, 1988, making this the first fleet squadron to be equipped with this new aircraft. The Be-Devilers last cruise took place in 1992 and the squadron was disbanded on April 30, 1994.
