Japan's "Viper Zero", armed for the anti-ship mission.
The Mitsubishi F-2 is the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's multirole fighter, developed from the F-16 with a larger composite wing and Japanese avionics, and nicknamed "Viper Zero". The single-seat F-2A is a key part of Japan's maritime strike capability.
This airframe was delivered to the JASDF in June 2010 as 03-8557 and re-registered 13-8557 in March 2011. In 2013 it represented the 3rd Squadron at the Misawa Air Combat Meet, and on 5 October 2014 it transferred to the 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron, part of the 8th Air Wing at Tsuiki. Hobby Master models it in two-tone blue camouflage, armed with four AAM-4 air-to-air missiles and two ASM-3 supersonic anti-ship missiles.
